Spread the love

Michael Bublé may have one of the smoothest voices in music, but when he first met Luisana Lopilato, words failed him. It was 2008, and the Canadian crooner had just finished a show in Buenos Aires when his record label insisted on introducing him to Argentina’s biggest TV star. The moment he saw her, he turned to his bandmates and whispered, “I’ll never see her again. She’s way too beautiful for me.”

What he didn’t know was that Lopilato had whispered something too. She had told her mother, “This is the man I’m going to marry.”

Love at First Sight? Not Exactly.

For Bublé, it was an instant attraction. For Lopilato, it was a slow burn. She didn’t speak English at the time, and Bublé, despite his confidence on stage, was hopelessly awkward around her. His attempt to flirt ended in a fumbling mix of Spanglish and nervous laughter. It took months of persistence, long-distance calls, and a lot of Google Translate before he finally won her over.

By 2009, they were inseparable. That same year, he wrote Haven’t Met You Yet about her, casting her as his love interest in the music video. At the time, he didn’t realize the song would become a prophecy for their life together.

A Proposal in Front of the Whole Family

When Bublé decided to propose in 2009, he didn’t do it in some private, candlelit setting. Instead, he walked into a room full of Lopilato’s entire family in Argentina and popped the question. He was so nervous that he barely remembers what he said.

“That was the scariest part—being in front of them and asking her father’s permission beforehand,” he later admitted.

Luckily, Luisana said yes. In 2011, they made it official with three weddings—a civil ceremony in Buenos Aires, a huge Argentinian celebration, and another reception in Canada. As Bublé put it, “It was just another excuse to celebrate our love and dance all night.”

Building a Family Through Unthinkable Hardship

Over the years, the couple welcomed four children: Noah (2013), Elias (2016), Vida (2018), and Cielo (2022). But their happiness was nearly shattered when, in 2016, their eldest son Noah was diagnosed with liver cancer.

Everything stopped. Bublé canceled his career. Lopilato put her work on hold. They spent the next 18 months focused entirely on saving their child.

“We are devastated about the recent cancer diagnosis of our oldest son,” Bublé wrote at the time. “Luisana and I have put our careers on hold in order to devote all our time and attention to helping Noah get well.”

Noah survived, and the experience changed everything. “I live with a perspective I just didn’t have before,” Bublé later said. “It allows me to have no fear.”

The Marriage That Works When Others Don’t

Celebrity marriages fall apart all the time. What makes Bublé and Lopilato different? According to Bublé, it’s about always putting the other person first.

“More than anything, my wife and I understand that each other’s fulfillment is important,” he explained. “I won’t be touring for certain months next year because she’ll be filming a movie, and then she’ll do the same for me.”

Their marriage isn’t built on grand gestures—it’s built on showing up. Whether it’s Bublé learning Spanish for Luisana or her defending him fiercely when fans misinterpreted their playful banter online, they have each other’s backs.

Now, more than a decade into their marriage, their kids are asking why they weren’t at the wedding. Bublé is seriously considering renewing their vows—not for himself, not for the cameras, but so his children can be part of their love story.

“We don’t care what we do—being together is the goal,” he said. And after everything they’ve been through, that goal seems more solid than ever.
