Kim Petras, a popular German singer, and songwriter, is the first openly transgender woman to receive a Grammy Award. In a recently held Award show, she won the Grammy for her single Unholy in the category of Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, and upon its winning, Kim first thanked her parents for affirming her transgender identity and saving her life. Since then, there has been a lot of curiosity about who her parents are.
Today’s article is all about the details of Kim Petras’ parents. Also, know about her siblings.
Kim Petras’ Siblings
The 30-year-old singer, Kim is the youngest child of her parents. She has two older sisters, one named Sina Petras, and the other’s name is unfortunately not known in the media. Like Kim, her older sister is also a singer.

In an exclusive talk with BuzzFeed. news, the Last Forever singer said,
“I have two older sisters, “We used to lip-synch Disney songs.”
In an interview, she revealed the fact that her sisters are an integral part of her musical journey. Her siblings were the ones who helped Kim film her videos when she started working for music initially. One of her sisters even used to play an acoustic guitar for Kim. A decade ago, Petras uploaded her singing video entitled ‘Singin’ Die for You with my sister’. In the video, we can see her sister playing guitar for her.
Kim Petras’ Parents; Who Are They?
Kim is the daughter of her parents Lutz Petras and Konni Petras. By profession, her mom Konni is a choreographer and artist and her father Lutz is an architect.

Since her mom is a dance teacher, music has always been an integral part of her house. From a very young age, she grew up in a musical environment due to which she developed an interest in music. As of now, she has established herself as one of the most popular singers and songwriters in the American music industry. Thus, her parents have always been her major inspiration for where she is today.
Her Parents’ Support Kept Her Alive, Said Kim Petras
In 2023, Kim won a Grammy Award alongside Sam Smith for their collaborative singles Unholy. While receiving an Award, Petras proudly accepted for being the first transgender woman to hold a Grammy for the best pop group/duo performance category. Not only that but with tears in her eyes and a trembling voice, she thanked her mother on stage for her support. So, why was that?
Actually, the trans artist was suicidal as a kid due to her sexuality and her parents were the ones who supported her and saved her. Later in an interview with Out Magazine, Kim said,
“I literally was very suicidal as a kid, and I just wouldn’t still be here had my parents not believed me, “So, I was like, ‘OK, first thing, I’m going to thank the person who’s responsible for me being alive.'”
Both her mom and Dad also showed equal support when she underwent gender-confirmation surgery at the age of 16.
