Lisa Turner’s work is both self-referential and indicative of the complexity of nature. This particular piece celebrates the outdoor environment and landscape of the Pacific Northwest, and was born from her interpretations and drawings of the bark patterns found on trees.
These drawings were the inspiration that fueled Kate Thornley-Hall to collaborate with Lisa Turner to produce a carpet design for Kate’s collection. Lisa was commissioned, in 2013, to produce the Cedar carpet and the pattern is currently being realized in a selection of standard and custom sizes.
The combination of hand-knotted Chinese silk and Himalayan wool creates physical texture while enhancing the visual impact of the design. Depending on the colour palette, the carpet can act as a showpiece or meld into a pared down interior concept.
